Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27, he entered the National Theatre School of Denmark where he graduated in 1995. Apart from his appearance in The Killing's drama series, he also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He played Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene of BBC Drama Sherlock. He played the Russian president in the American television series House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. This series was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He stated that his brother and he first learned English through studying and listening to the Monty Python songs.
